Thank you for sharing your story, an injury like this so debilitating both physically and mentally, watching videos like this is inspiring me with my own injury. I am 4 months into recovery from a ski accident. I broke the ACL tibial spine with part tear to the ACL. No surgery required so far, the break is apparently the better option! Although initially more debilitating the recovery I am hoping will be easier. I am back at the gym resistance training, cross trainer and cycling. My struggle is walking normally, my goal is to get back to running 15km a week, I have been told that another month or two is realistic in achieving this.

I have a different kind of story. One day five years ago, for no reason I can think of, I awakened to find out that I couldn't straighten my right arm completely and there was mild pain in the area of distal bicep tendon. I got it checked out, had an MRI and learned that I have a small partial tear. The arm surgeon didn't want to operate. It wasn't enough of a tear, he said. I went through physical therapy but it didn't help getting my arm to straighten. The bicep muscle doesn't seem to be tight. It's as if the tendon thickened or something. I still feel moments of pain from time to time. It's hurting today after washing my car. I'm wondering if a second MRI would show whether the tear has healed, remains the same or has worsened.

I met with an accident in August 2023 Got an MRI Reports said I had torn ACL, meniscus and some more. Doctors said to get an operation. Did physiotherapy for a month. Was able (still able) to walk without any pain and do normal activities. Got another MRI in May 2024. Healed everything except for the ACL. Don't know should I be happy or sad. Got this at a young age of 17 and I feel like I am not able to keep up with the people around my age like run, jump etc. I know I can run/jump but there is a fear at the back of my mind. I feel my knee is stable but I just don't know what to do. My friends had surgery and they say they feel pain which I don't. I really don't know what to do.

I think I just discovered for myself that my microfiber sheets were causing sleep disturbances. I mean no matter what I did, nothing worked. I watched hundreds of videos, read plenty of articles and NIH studies. But this one change, changing from microfiber sheets to 100% cotton made a dramatic difference in sleep quality. My guess is the toxic chemicals they use to make that cheap plastic was harming me, and disrupting REM sleep. I only found out because sleeping on my awkward couch was oddly better than sleeping on my serta king mattress with memory foam padding. Didn't make sense at first. I skimped on cheap sheets. Never again. I don't care what the cost is for organic, I'll never sleep on poison another day in my life. Hope someone reads this and finds the information as useful as I did.

I’m at 3 months post surgery and still have nerve pain in my forearm (from LACN irritation during surgery) as well as some residual shoulder and elbow pain from being in a sling for 6 weeks. Been using mostly elastic band but moved to dumbbells the last couple of weeks. On numerous occasions I’ve had to step back on the intensity due to worsening pain the day after rehab. I’m being realistic as to how everyones progress is unique whilst being very mindful of protecting the repair. I definitely don’t want to risk re rupturing the tendon, so I’d rather go slower and ensure I’m progressing. My ROM is almost at 100% of pre injury but I still get some pain at the extreme range in pronation. That’s always lessening as time progresses. As long as I’m improving I’m satisfied with my progress. Good luck to anyone in the early phase of recovery. Take it one day at a time, do your rehab carefully and you will recover.

If it’s a complete rupture then your supination strength will be significantly reduced without surgery. Your age and lifestyle will help you make a decision though. I’m 53 with a job that requires lots of physical labour, so surgery was my only option. Don’t leave it too long to have it done if you choose that path. The tendon will degrade as time progresses which can impact on the success of the repair. Best wishes for your recovery, whatever you choose.

I prefer osteopaths, but good luck finding any of them in the US since the mafia gov't doesn't allow them to practices without an MD. & by the time they graduate from the evil pharma owned school, they go over to the dark side of toxic drugs & probably even toxic surgery. RIDICOULOUS. I never liked the chiro adjustments. They hurt me & made me tense up in anticipation. I finally stopped going. That was years ago before I even know what an ostepath was. If anyone knows the name of that old docu where the evil AMA ran all chiros (this was many many moons ago back in the early 1900s) out of their profession, even lit their houses on fire, please LMK. I've been looking for it for years. I saw it on TV I think years ago. This was back when I think chiros were more like osteos.

@@MrBrownii13 I hope your surgery is a success & wish you a speedy recovery! But it's been about 2 weeks since and it's getting better even though i still use a walker. I actually had my follow up appointment yesterday and they took the stitches out. The only thing i really hate is feeling the nerves in my leg jump. Especially when I'm sleep. Sometimes it's not that bad, other times it's like wtf is going on down there?? 😩 luckily I don't need to wear the brace when I'm at home but it's still kind of hard to put full weight on my foot again and when i touch that area of my leg i can't feel it (if that makes sense.) I still have not started my physical therapy yet but I'm suppose to be doing some exercises at home where i have to lay on my stomach, put a 5 pound weight on my foot and keep it like that for 30 minutes straight twice a day just to stretch out that muscle since my leg can't go all the way down. I tried it for the first time this morning and that shit hurt like a mf but it needs to be done otherwise i will lose that range of motion and it will be extremely hard to get it back. The other option would be going under anesthesia again and have the doctor bend my leg for me but that will be a last resort. So right now working to get that extension back is my main priority. I hate all of this & can't wait for it to be over! 😭

Today is 8th of April, 2024. It is almost 17 months of my ACL surgery. This whole incident was beyond something I ever anticipated or imagined. After having a swollen knee for more than 2 weeks, I decided to get a MRI. The MRI report stated that I needed an ACL surgery. After hearing it, I was extremely nervous and worried. Then, I visited few doctors. Among them, one doctor stood out. He explained the process of ACL tear very well using the anatomy of human knee. He then also explained how the ACL recovery works. After I understood the overalls of ACL reconstruction surgery, I was ready for knee surgery. Also, I immediately understood that the most important part is physiotherapy. I was suggested to start therapy before surgery for better recovery. After my surgery was successful, there was another challenge awaiting. It was to complete therapy sessions without sustaining injuries. Thus after 10-12 days of my surgery, I started attending physiotherapy sessions under the supervision of my physiotherapist whom my surgeon had recommended. I dedicated 2-4 hours every day for therapy for 4 months. After 3 months I started practicing therapy and exercises on my own with occasional visits to the therapist. At present,I can walk smoothly and jog lightly. I can lightly squat on single leg. I am yet to reach 100%.I can’t jump very high or run at very fast pace. I am taking my time with this recovery. The main message I want to convey to those who have suffered such accident is that your leg will be as good as it used to be before. You will be able to walk, run and jump again. After suffering such injury, one can feel like it’s the end of the world. However, it is just a simple setback. So stay positive and trust the process. Somethings to consider through out this process are : 1. Before getting surgery, visit multiple doctors. Only proceed with the doctors who is willing to communicate and explain every thing that you need to understand because there will be a lot of questions from your side. Physiotherapy before surgery is also highly recommended. 2. Surgery is not the toughest part, the recovery phase is. It will require a lot of patience, care and dedication. 3. Muscle loss and swelling is very common during the early phase of injury. Until there is no sharp pain, there is no need to worry about swelling. Use ice pack or oil massages which one helps. Muscle loss can be avoided by starting as soon as the injury occurs. I have been trying to maintain equal size. However, there is still some difference and I am not bothered by the size difference that much. 4. At times, you might lose confidence. However, it is something very common and that can be overcome. Even after these injuries, we can continue our activities. It is more of a mental struggle. So be strong and never think that this will hamper your life. 5. The first 3-5 months after surgery are very crucial. Avoid unnecessary actions and show boating or avoid trying to prove that you have recovered. Always be conscious about the types of movement so that you can avoid injury. 6. During the recovery process, you will hear small pops and sounds which you shouldn’t worry about. You should only be worried if the pop was similar to the sound you heard during injury and there is terrible swelling and pain. 7. Most important point is, recovery will take time. Don’t compare your progress with others. Don’t be overwhelmed by the progress of people on UA-cam. Every one’s body is different and the recovery will widely depend on physiotherapy, life style and diet. In the end, I want to say that if you have recently suffered such injury, don’t panic. It can be fixed, thanks to modern medical science. Take help of your family, communicate with your doctor and never skip therapy. Physiotherapy is the key. I am always immensely thankful to my family, friends, doctors and physiotherapists. I hope I can return back to 100% very soon.
